Who's BRIGHT idea was this???
Hi Paula,
Reading Reflection: Chapters 11-24
After reading chapters 11-24, I decided to use the "screens" activity which is illustrated on page 74 of our text with 2 of my students who are reading Nothing But The Truth. One is emotionally disabled, and doesn't really have trouble expressing is thoughs on paper. The other is Learning Disabled, and has a lot of trouble with oral and written language.
This activity focuses on a character who made a decision which affected himself and others. The students are given clear and concise directions. Key words are emphasized in each screen which help them organize their thoughts and stay focused. The final product is an essay.
I had planned for them to work together. I wanted them to discuss the story and decide what should be included in their essay, but it didn't work out that way. LD student wanted ED student to do all of the work. They both ended up working independently, and both of them produced decent essays.
